Cambodge - Kratie

The Irrawaddy Dolphins Of Kratie were a treasure to see for ourselves

Crossed the border over to Cambodia having to pay both the Laos and Cambodian officials for them to stamp our passports! But nevermind we got there in the end. We arrived in Stung Tren and found out that there were no buses to Kratie as the bridge had fallen down- as if it had just happened so they insisted we needed to pay 10$ each for a private taxi squeezing 5 people in it plus 2 bikes and the luggage of 5 people- we obviously didn't buy it!

Out of sheer luck we managed to bribe a local pick up truck 5$ each to take us there. It was a long and bumpy ride and we came off it looking like we'd spent too long under the sunbed- the orange dust had completely fake tanned us and it was streek free too!

Decided to spend a day in Kratie to see these dolphins and so the next day we hired 2 bikes and cycled 15km to the dolphin site. It was nice to see them although they stayed away from our boat so we couldn't get close enough really. We were more concerned about the bike ride home as our arses were that bruised from the day before that it was sheer tortue sitting on that saddle!

We headed off for kompong Cham the following day and stop gap between us and the great Angkor...
